  • RidgeMonkey Escape FQ1 Bivvy is a premium one-man shelter designed for carp anglers who want a fast setup, strong protection from the elements and the flexibility to adapt their shelter to different session styles. The bivvy is built around a  modular design, allowing it to be used either as a more open “brolly-style” shelter or fully enclosed depending on conditions. This flexibility comes from its removable front panel and interchangeable door options, including insect mesh and a clear PVC window, giving you control over ventilation, visibility and protection.

One of the key standout features is the quick-lock central boss and elbow joint system, which allows the bivvy to be erected and packed down in seconds. This makes it particularly useful when arriving at the bank in poor weather or when you need to move swims efficiently.

In terms of weather protection, the bivvy uses a 150D HydroX outer fabric combined with tape-sealed seams and a blackout inner lining. This setup provides strong waterproof performance while also helping regulate internal temperature, reduce light penetration and improve sleep during daylight hours. The blackout lining also adds privacy and helps maintain a more stable internal environment in changing weather. With adjustable openings at the front, sides and rear, all of which can be fully opened, partially opened or fitted with insect mesh depending on conditions. This allows you to manage airflow effectively and reduce condensation while still protecting yourself from insects and the elements.

The addition of a removable skull cap creates a twin-skin effect, improving insulation in colder weather while also enhancing airflow in warmer conditions. It also helps reduce condensation and directs rain away from the entrance, which is particularly useful during extended sessions in poor weather.

Practical touches throughout this Ridgemonkey include integrated magnetic rod straps, reinforced pegging points with colour-coded guides, and heavy-duty zips with water-repelling baffles. The bivvy also includes multiple tension adjustment points and a built-in compass on the central hub to help with orientation during setup.

In terms of size, it offers a spacious footprint for a one-man shelter, with external dimensions of approximately 250cm by 195cm by 144cm, giving enough room for a bedchair and essential kit without feeling cramped. Despite this, it remains portable, with a bivvy-only weight of around 7.5kg and a full system weight of roughly 15kg once accessories are included.

Overall, this is a high-end, feature-rich bivvy aimed at serious carp anglers who want a balance of quick setup, strong weather protection and adaptability.
